Bunny Bow & DIY Staple Pumps

I feel like a bunny in this headband! I like fainted when I saw this big bow headband on the Forever 21 website!

I'm actually wearing two skirts. A little trick--when your skirt is too short, layer two skirts for length and added texture to your outfit. The longer lace skirt underneath is one of my DIY tutus. If you have no sewing skills, like me, skirts are probably the easiest thing to make. Yeah, funny expression in the next picture.

What do you think of the shoes??? There's been this huge craze around metal details--studs, spikes, zippers--which Marc Jacobs thinks is so passe. I happened to be reading The Skinny who blogged about using staples as embellishments so I decided to break out my black Enzo pumps and make them my first victim.

Closeup of my DIY shoes!

The really neat and ordered staples on these DIY shoes remind me of the studded Pigalle pumps by Christian Louboutin.

[[Update 12/02/09]] I've lined the inside with pieces of suede so they don't scratch and they're totally wearable!

I'm wearing Forever 21 sheer top, random tank underneath, Forever 21 black skirt, DIY lace skirt underneath, DIY stapled shoes, Nordstrom leather biker glove, and Forever 21 bow headband.

  1. The staples on shoe look awesome may I say. Brill look, and the layering of the 2 skirts is smart. I love the exposure of the top aswell, quite lustful, but still a classy.

    J'aime.

  15. wow...using staples to diy heels! that's really clever! looks good, but does ur feet hurt? tat's quite alot of staples there!

hmm not sure why i changed the name, maybe cos most pple dun understand Hokkien, and if u dunno Hokkien, then "siu jiat" really means nothing. since i'm such a dreamy person and so much in luv with fairytale romances, i decided to change the name to "my happily ever after" :D

feel free to ask me any qn any time!

CUTE outfit!! You look like the prettiest bunny there is! The big bow headband is fabulous and your DIY shoes too! I really like how you glammed them up:)And your tulle skirt! I really really want a ballerina skirt like that, but I have no sewing skills whatsoever!!!

I've no idea how tall my shoes are, prob 4 inches? And I don't usually wear white to weddings either, but maroon and cream were the wedding themes, so I chose cream:P

  46. it's your shoes that i got curious first; i liked the shape already, staples embedded or not. maybe passe's not the word for me. the mosh pit look is really getting very tired... that's the irony about classic things. you like them because they're timeless but you get tired of them at some point. anyway, the diy idea's brilliant!

  47. the staples on the shoes look amazing, don't look diy'd at all! love the bow as well (:

    ReplyDelete
  59. love love love the shoes! I may have to try that. I think I may just embellish the heel end of my shoes though. Curious -what material are those shoes made out of? Did you use a regular or heavy duty stapler? <3
