I'm not too sure how this dress shirt came to be in my closet, but apparently it's for boys. I was pretty excited about the cuff links on the sleeves though.

I'm wearing a dress shirt by Ralph Lauren, skirt by Jones New York, braided belt from Primark, bag from Primark, and shoes from B.P.

The lovely Valencia of
tagged me. Soooo, if you want to know a little more about me, keep reading. Here are 10 honest things about me, relatively fashion related:

  1. I had a phase when I only wore pink.

  2. I was 16 when I bought my first pair of jeans. I only bought them because my mom said I needed to.

  3. I wear high heels in my room just for fun, even when I'm in my PJs. Huge sweatshirt, baggy sweats, and killer heels.

  4. I have over 100 pairs of shoes.

  5. I'm trained in classical ballet, and seriously considered becoming a professional ballerina before going to college. Makes me feel pretty baller, http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/group.php?gid=2215734386

  6. I only dance on elevated surfaces. Join this facebook group if you feel likewise. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2339043011

  7. When I was little I wanted to own Converse in every color, Addidas stripes in every color, and Puma's in every color.

  8. I'm obsessed with anything preppy. I live by the Prepsta Guide, and I love going to Tea Partays (you have to watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTU2He2BIc0&feature=related).

  9. I'm obsessed with color coordinating my outfits with my friends.

  10. In high school I started a business selling handbags I designed. All proceeds were donated to cancer research.

Bambi

A couple of weeks ago I was in the Kansai region of Japan and decided to visit Nara, which is known for its many temples and shrines, and freely roaming deer. There are tons of deer wandering around, and you're allowed to feed them too!

AlphaBetaChic

These tame deer are incredibly friendly. If they know you have food, they're not afraid to come up close, as you can see! They'll nudge you, and pretty much chase you down, if they know you're hiding food from them.

AlphaBetaChic

AlphaBetaChic

Their antlers are actually kinda fuzzy. I thought it would feel rough like a tree branch, but their antlers have a fuzzy outer coating. This one's coming over for his close up.

AlphaBetaChic

At most of the temples there are water fountains where you can wash your hands to cool down.

AlphaBetaChic

This picture makes me feel like I'm in a video game. I'm the deer in search of biscuits in this game. Is that a biscuit I spy in that child's hand?

I'm wearing a silk top by INC International Concepts, white skirt and peep toe heels from Primark, gold necklace by jLo, long charm necklace from Forever 21, and clear lucite bracelets I bought in LA.

Menswear

No doubt I was blown away by the style scene in Japan, but the people who impressed me the most? The guys! Talk about heavy metal. Imagine chains clipped everwhere, fingers full of rings, multi-buckle and studded boots and brogues, and wild hair.

I collected all the silver bracelets I could find in my drawer, even converting necklaces into wrist jewelry, to create a forearm's worth of metal. If only I had more silver jewelry! What I'm thinking of would probably weigh pounds!

Is anyone else obsessed with armfuls of bracelets too?

Bright White Places

I'm wearing an old denim jacket I got from the kids section of Target, Charlotte Russe dress and shoes, Capezio stockings, Primark scarf and purse, and Topshop accessories.

The art studio at my school is one of the most inspiring places to go to for creative inspiration. There's so much white space everywhere! I love just wandering the halls and taking a peek at the artists in their natural habitat. And the wonders that they create never cease to surprise me!

Many Shades of Blue

Before summer ends, and the parade of black and white outfits rolls along, I'm going to challenge myself to wear more prints and patterns. Nothing too dramatic just yet! Baby steps, first!

Here's my attempt mixing different prints and textures: polka dots, stripes, denim.

So Happy for Sun

Sheer, sheer, sheer does the trick! I'm not the biggest fan of baring my shoulders, especially during the day, so I've picked out a sheer top to layer underneath my dress.

Blazer Top

Feeling kind of futuristic in this outfit! I'm not sure if its the shape of the silhouette caused by the full skirt or the black and white color contrast or the smoothness of the liquid leggings! Latest obsession are these liquid leggings!!! Surprisingly they go with almost everything!

I was browsing through one of Stella McCartney's collections and really loved how the models were wearing really big blazers tucked into very feminine skirts. I decided to try the look myself tucking a white blazer into a full skirt. Here I'm using a tailored/fitted blazer instead of the loose, oversized blazer that McCartney uses because the combination with a full skirt would have been way to costumey, for everyday life that is! My rule of thumb is always add a belt when you're wearing a full skirt because it helps cinch the waist and avoids that balloon effect. It gives the silhouette just the right amount of dramatic shape.

I'm wearing a Forever 21 white blazer, pinstripe skirt from Rampage, liquid leggings from Target, Calvin Klein belt, and Forever 21 chain necklace, and my favorite Enzo Angiolini pumps.

Glam Rock

Over the knee boots: Found. Finally.

This is the story of how I found these coveted boots a few months ago. I'd been on the lookout for a pair of boots that go beyond the knee, not just by an inch or two, but some really thigh high boots. I've had the most embarassing shoe try on experiences along the way! When I'd find an over-the-knee-pair, I'd get so excited until the zipper wouldn't go all the way up!!! I was getting convinced that I'd never find that worked for people with leg muscles until I walked into a Steve Madden store one day. I gave the shoes a chance before assuming they wouldn't zip up all the way. And voila! This is the first time they have come out to play since the weather's been so warm!

Seriously goth, and anything with a rock 'n roll vibe, is so major in Japan, especially for the dudes. I'm talking Hot Topic to the extreme. Skulls, check. Pirate, check. Vampire, check. Cut-outs, slashed, check check. Studs, zippers, and safety pins sprinkled all over clothes. Black and white, everything. Serious hardware, from necklaces to pocket accessories, and all the arm candy you can pile on. I literally can't wait until the weather is cooler and I can wear my newly purchased black garb from Japan, all the time.

I'm wearing leather jacket by BB Dakota, crossover tank by American Rag, pinstripe skirt from Rampage, studded belt from Target, plastic geometric necklace bought in England, gold earrings from Forever 21, and my most prized possession: Steve Madden over the knee boots.

Safari by Night

Sorry for the lack of updates!
I was in Tokyo for the weekend! So much to say, I can't stop talking about Japan!

AlphaBetaChic

AlphaBetaChic

AlphaBetaChic

Sometimes you come across a pair of shoes that you want to buy multiple pairs of just because they are so perfect. These patent leather black shoes are perhaps the most versatile shoes I own, and totally worth buying because I wear (or at least want to wear) these everyday. Just the right heel height and a perfect almond toe. They go with just about every outfit: casual, fancy, conservative, edgy.

As for the top, too bad you can't see the drapping from the pictures but it's somewhat like a cowl neck. There's enough fabric that the drop neck line doesn't end up being too revealing. The material is great for a dressed up look, and the best part is it's uber slimming, surprisingly for such stretchy material. You don't even have to figure out what necklace to go with since there's a big circular pendant attached!

The pants have to be paired with something a little more form fitting and definitely less poofy on the top otherwise I'd look like a balloon! I wish I was back in England with my uni friends so I could go out for some pretty drinks in this outfit!

I'm wearing a black top with attached necklace from Forever 21, high waisted balloon pants found in my aunt's closet, gold rimmed aviators from Miss Selfridges, patent leather pumps by Enzo Angiolini, vintage gold chained purse.

Summer Days

I just got back from a weekend in Amanohashidate, one of the most scenic places in Japan. I can't wait to show you all the pictures of the view!

AlphaBetaChic

This dress feels perfect for summer! The skirt has a mini petticoat underneath that makes the skirt really full.

AlphaBetaChic

I love this textured clutch with the patterned bumps.

AlphaBetaChic

I'm wearing a Sele halter dress from Macy's, yellow cuff from Primark, wide double buckle belt and gladiators from Forever 21, random wooden circle earrings, and Mom's clutch.

Gym Shorts

I really love these shorts!! They're so soft and comfy. These shorts used to be my cross country team shorts. I tried to mix up the athletic gear with more sophisticated items like the scarf and heels.

AlphaBetaChic

AlphaBetaChic

I'm wearing uniform shorts, button down from J. Crew, gray blazer by Luna Chix (via Nordstrom), Forever 21 chandelier earrings, bangles from a street vendor, and an elephant print scarf I picked up France.

Powwow

I went to a Powwow, which is a fair where everyone gets together to dance, sing, socialize, and honor the Native American people and lifestyle. Tons of food and souvenir vendors, performance troupes, and awareness groups come. I tried to dress appropriately for the event!

AlphaBetaChic

I was trying to figure out what to wear with this dress, maybe a brown tube top? Orange tank? White peasant top? But I couldn't find anything in the right shade in my closet, so I decided to just turn the skirt into a dress and ditch the effort of trying to match properly!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Check out the teepee!! It was so tall!

Photobucket

Wearing a skirt as a dress, and bangles, both picked up in LA. The belt is from New Look, and my Charlotte Russe wedges again because they are uber comfy. The wood necklace is from Primark. I'm also wearing a yellow and blue feather that I bought at Powwow in my hair.

Inaugural Post

Welcome!

AlphaBetaChic

AlphaBetaChic

AlphaBetaChic

Seems like I'm layering so many pieces here! I really like the mini pleats on the tube top, makes it just a little interesting. Tried not to look to pouffy with the pleated skirt and top, so I added the belt to cinch the waist a bit. Doesn't adding a belt almost always make an outfit just right?

AlphaBetaChic

The olive green top is from Charlotte Russe, black/white stripe shirt from Windsor, beige mini pleated skirt is random, bown braided belt from New Look, eagle claw necklace I picked up in LA, random brown chandelier earrings, and my Charlotte Russe wedges.

P.S. Has anyone seen that little "olive you" picture of two little olives looking at each other?
