NY Fashion Week: Runway Recap
My computer almost had a heart attack with me pressing ctrl C+ctrl V+ctrl S x 100 repeatedly (copy, paste, save, 100 times). I haven't even finished going through the collections.
Erin Fetherston
aka my favorite designer...ever...like ever ever
With my obsession on all things fairy tale and ballet, Erin Fetherston is my go-to designer as her collections are always storybook perfect. I secretly pretend I live in a fairy tale...I wear my ballet costumes around the house. Obsessing over large hair bows, chiffon, bold metal collars, and long sheer skirts at Erin Fetherston's Spring 2010 runway show.
The collection was inspired heavily by Fetherston's childhood trip to Nara, a place known for its free-roaming deer. The dotted caramel prints draw a clear inspiration from the spotted deer themselves.
Do you remember when I went to Nara to feed the Bambi? I was wearing a light blue and white number much like this!!!

Alexander Wang
aka designer i really, really want to meet
As is customary, Alexander Wang continues to impress with his Spring 2010 collection of clothes that really are ready-to-wear. There was a clear athletic theme to the 41 piece collection with variations of the broad-shouldered top, gray sweatshirt, ribbed knee highs, and football-shaped handbag making multiple appearances. The use of sheer and fuzzy material, cutouts, and leggy leotards kept this sporty collection from seeming to masculine.
Did you notice the models sported backless knee highs? Reminiscent of shin guards!
I know Alexander Wang always uses these uniform colors, but one request: more color? for spring?

Milly
Michelle Smith of Milly certainly knows how to juggle runway ready and wearability. Milly stuck by her bread and butter silhouettes of mini shorts and 3/4 sleeve jackets though ditching her usual colorful prints. The runway show also marked the debut of her costume jewelry, piling on each model with bold necklaces and bracelets. The collection featured gold embellishments, huge hair bows, side ponytails, & socks in sandals, all on a light pink runway.

Christian Cota
The laser cut flowers are what Christian Cota hopes will make "a woman look like she was blooming". To keep this garden urban and blossoming in the city, Cota paired his ladylike designs with arm and body chains, exposed midriffs, and dark strappy shoes.

Dennis Basso
Ballerina influences, nude thigh highs, mink and organza coats, & superhero eye masks.

Sophie of Teacups & Saucers from the UK gave me this blog award!!! You are so sweet!
Sunshine in a Cloudy Sky from Germany tagged me to say 10 facts about myself. I wish I could read more of her posts in German!
Ali of Baby, I'm Gonna Leave You from Australia tagged me with Honest Scrap. She just turned 18!! |

|
Thank you so soooooooo much for thinking of me and giving me these awards! It made me really happy! So here are my 10 facts! I tried to keep them fashion related!
|
- I have 2 real closets (my room and the guest room), 3 portable closets, 3 wardrobes, and 7 storage boxes of clothes (not including shoes or accessories). Don't worry I'm not a major brat, it's mostly Forever 21 over the years!
- If I'm feeling down, I play dress up to cheer myself up! Works EVERY time!
- I carry my camera everyday everywhere. It's been a habit since long before I started blogging!
- I have a phobia of feet/toes, so I never wear open toed shoes or sandals unless I've had a pedicure, I'm wearing socks inside (socks+sandals all the way!), or think I won't run into anyone. This translates into rarely wearing my many open toed shoes!
- I was scouted out to be a store model at Abercrombie & Fitch. I really don't understand why people complain about working there so much b/c it was a fun parti-time job. My friend Jeremiah and I would come up with outfit ideas and debate them on our breaks.
- I get all my designer, vintage, and custom-tailored clothes from my aunt.
- I'm not really into makeup, I've had the same makeup application for the past 5 years.
- In Japan I couldn't find any shoes in my size (26 cm, US 8) because they only carry up to 24cm usually. And most clothes didn't fit either!!! It was so embarassing trying things on that clearly didn't fit in front of the sales associate!
- Shoes win over handbags! When it comes to shoes, I'd rather have multiple decent, non-designer shoes. But with handbags, I'd rather have one investment piece instead of many bags.
- I hate when guys wear those velcro mountain hiking man-sandals...or man sandals in general...
What was your favorite collection this season?
Stay tuned for more Runway Recap and new Trend Report in the next post!
P.S. Thank you all so much for your comments and continued support! Sorry if I haven't visited your blogs recently as I've been studying for the exam I had Friday (which I passed!) and working on the Macy's Fashion Show. I'm responding to questions and stopping by your blogs now!!! xxx
